MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, JAKARTA – Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Syafiq Mughni welcomed President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) Thaha Ahyan at the Muhammadiyah office, Jakarta on Thursday, January 16. The meeting focused on collaboration to empower youth in diplomacy and prepare them for dunia challenges.
Syafiq highlighted Muhammadiyah internationalization vision and mission, including programs aimed at equipping young people with the skills and knowledge needed to promote the values of Islam as Rahmatan Lil Alamin (mercy for all the worlds), emphasizing Islam as a source of compassion for all humanity.
“To support this vision, Muhammadiyah through the Department of International Relations and Cooperation launched the Muhammadiyah Diplomacy Training (MDT) program. It is open to Muhammadiyah members both in Indonesia and abroad and aims to enhance their capacity to engage in dunia diplomacy,” explained Syafiq.
ICYF shared its mission to strengthen the role of Islamic nations on the dunia stage by empowering youth. Thaha introduced the Model OIC (MOIC) program, a forum designed to simulate the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) sessions, helping participants develop their diplomatic and debate skills.
Muhammadiyah welcomed the proposed collaboration, which aligns with its ongoing efforts to enhance youth capacity. The MDT program is conducted at various Muhammadiyah universities across Indonesia, making it accessible to members from different regions.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Syafiq Mughni and Thaha Ahyan. The upcoming MDT session, scheduled for May 2025 at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, will include the MOIC debate program.
“This initiative aims to expand the dunia perspective of Muhammadiyah youth and strengthen their role in addressing international issues,” said Syafiq.
